i. Avoiding communal spread via quarantine oneself and other hygiene measures at first sign of symptoms should be a priority for all. ii. Upon first symptoms utilize homeopathic Oscillococcinum as directed on package or related homeopathic agent based on emerging evidence and traditional usage plus little to no side effect risk. As 2015 Cochrane review publication reported (i.e., the most stringent and respected medical research studies accounting for standard measures plus author bias, etc.), that this agent may reduce flu/influenza symptoms by at least 5% for the first 48-hours of symptoms. More studies, however, are needed of highest cost and quality are needed to substantiate these findings before a formal statement can be made. This, including well-established lymphocyte testing, being essential for those with recurrent infections, considerable chronic disease, personal/family history of cancer or other immune dysfunctions, or desiring anti-aging/longevity related optimization care.

iii. Especially if a sore throat is being experienced, utilize up to 800-2000iu of vitamin D3 (for children) and 5000-10,000 iu+ of vitamin D3 (for adults) per day for 2-5 days or until symptoms resolve if still improving. Vitamin D deficiencies are epidemic in non-equator latitudinal areas globally and deficiencies are clearly linked to upper respiratory tract infections, sore throat, low bone mineral density (including bone marrow and overall immune, cellular, etc. health) and many to most chronic illness. See preventive strategy below to help optimize levels, which is the present strategy recommended yet not fully utilized by public health agencies and specialists. Zinc lozenges or gargle (zinc gluconate is preferred yet any form may be utilized) is also a decades long evidence based prevention and treatment strategy. Aligned with all traditional medical understandings, sore throats may also indicate over-consumption of food and related digestive enzyme depletion to deficiency, warranting lowered, improved, etc. food consumption associated with the depleted appetite commonly experienced during these acute ailments. Light vegetable or bone broth soups/broths and herbal teas including but not limited to throat coat tea by traditional medicinal, pumpkin pie spice tea, iced slippery elm or marshmallow beverage, n-acetyl glucosamine/glucosamine, plus digestive enzyme, colorful and lighter density enzyme, rainbow polyphenol and overall nutrient rich fresh to wild harvested foods/herbs are also helpful in select sore throats. People with tendency to low blood pressure should gargle with water mixed with sea salt, Himalayan, Celtic or Real salt several times per day (any herb mention above including clove powder or oil may be added). Those with higher blood pressure may gargle with water mixed with Epsom salt, Dead Sea Salt and/or baking soda. Those with normal blood pressure may use a combination of any of the above and oil pulling with good quality extra virgin olive oil, castor oil, sesame oil, ghee or mustard oil may also be utilized. Gentle chanting, humming, gazing upward, listening to bird, whale, dolphin, angel and/or generally powerful female voices is also helpful. As is wrapping the neck area/throat with preferably a red, violet or purple wool, silk or other natural scarf, shawl or other linen - with or without a cool moist cotton or paper towel wrapped beneath. Chiropractic or osteopathic manipulations as well as massage therapy (emphasizing lymphatic drainage and most energy medicine based therapies) plus postural exercises as follows: if left nostril is clogged, forward bending and/or lying on right side of body with left nostril upward until open. iv. For nasal and other mucus related congestion, utilize n-acetyl cysteine (NAC) 600mg 1 capsules 1-2 x per day for adults and 1/3 to 1/2 capsules 1-2x per day for children. One should caution or avoid NAC if they have a personal history of considerable cardiovascular disease and stop if unnatural blood vessel dilation is observed or related is experienced. Safe for all, equal to superior in effectiveness (although sometimes slower acting) alternative to NAC are next-level RiboCeine (i..e, see our supplement store page for more info) and Broccomax by Jarrow. vi. In some cases this may not resolve headache entirely right away (especially if fever present) yet noticeable benefits should be attained from this including quickened resolved - as rest, positive mindset including insight/motivation toward enhanced states of overall health to dedicate oneself to, etc. are gradually attained. Acupressure protocols for headaches readily available online may also be implemented. If feeling backed up aka constipated (first realize it is likely because you haven't eaten) and if called may consume moderate dosage of oils (such as a tablespoon of olive oil, coconut oil, butter/ghee or castor oil), magnesium such as milk of magnesia, internally approved charcoal or clay may also be used. If necessary senna in the form of smooth move tea and a number of drug store and herbal medicine preparation can be used short term to help clear out and detox potential pathogens/associated toxins. Homeopathic remedies may also be considered - based on symptomatic picture - such as "homeopathic headache" combination formulas and/or belladona, gelsemium, bryonia, silicea, etc. in 6 to 30 c or x low potency dosage.

Plus alternating 3-5 min hot then 1-2 cold packs to area around ear, temple, crown and neck, homeopathic remedies combo products or based on acute picture online (Silicea tends to work if chronic not infectious), specific probiotics Streptococcus salivarius (i.e., BLIS K12) Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG or Bifidobacterium lactis, chiropractic/osteopathic manipulations, xylitol containing chewing gum/dental products, omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA), Vics vapor rub or essential oils in carrier oil - such as olive - used topically around ear and neck and head - such as eucalyptus, peppermint, clove, rosemary... oils (the latter two powder also works) used topically, gargling, chanting/singing, gargling (with salt water as discussed in sore throats). Food/environmental allergies should be evaluated and avoided (ear infections, allergies, etc. are found at exponentially higher rates in conventional environments over more natural/traditional environments) that can be addressed very well with above including nutrition components. Homeopathic nosodes of mold, dust mite, animal dander, pollen, etc drops are also helpful here and the future of costly injection based immunotherapy once perfected (in the words of a senior MD allergist colleague earned millions from immunotherapy and wasnt too fond of natural medicines...). Chest percussion discussed in bronchitis below as well as massaging tight muscles or neck, face, head, shoulders... Chiropractic/Osteopathic manipulation can be very helpful for some. Long-term integrative optimal health strategies essential for all children in modern day are high related to above regarding ensuring optimal foods (traditional lectin-free breads, only a2-casein dairy, healthiest treats as possible - definitely no artificial colors/flavors plus - doing so is the best strategy to ensure and not corrupt optimal heart, nervous system, gut, immune, etc development), adequate vit d per age, omega-3s, low dose multi with methylated b vitamin, and very importantly, as medicinal grade broccoli sprout extract such as Jarrow Broccomax at low dosage (breaking up mucus and boosting glutathione that more long-term established benefits than any other medicines known - including leading psych, autism, detox, etc health methods).

ix. For pink eye, conjunctivitis, other mild to moderate (not severe) eye related: For pink eye and mild crusted infectious conjunctivitis, a few drops of an alcohol based tincture of a berberine containing herbal extract such oregon grape, goldenseal, coptis, etc. work very well in most cases (availble at all healthfoods stores). Test with a very low dose to be sure it doesnt burn, yet can generally a rub drops directly into eye lid and eyelashes with clean finger a few times a day and it'll disappear - especially in children and more vitally immune adults. This is also researched for blepharitis infections with good efficacy. Above works via anti-microbial, fluid drawing and mild anti-inflammatory effects. Some mild case cases may resolve with a simple tea bag over the eyes of chamomille, green tea, black tea, tulsi/holy basil, goldenseal, eyebright teas, etc - and also work well for strained eyes with due to fatigue, allergies, or related --- as is helpful a number of homeopathic eye drops, MSM drops recommended by some holistic optometrists (particulalry for long term eye health and prevention, along with Areds II eye formulas with higher dosages of zinc, lutein/zeaxanthin, vitamin C. Some cases, particularly if more more viral conjuctivitis and even mild sun radiation, etc forms with mild to moderate inflammatory and warmth heat being an issues (in cases where corticosteroid drops are often used), the product Glycothymoline or related Alka-Thyme in a 50:50 ratio with distilled or previously boiled purified water via rinses and/or packs works excellent with a slightly alkaline pH, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, refreshing-cooling herbal effect. This products was a mainstay in EENT departments in many hospital until the weaning out in the 1970s per growth of big pharma yet obviously still has great utility. Now a days it is primarily utilized as a natural mouthwash still loved by many. It is available via Amazon and select established local (not Wholefoods or Vitamin Shoppe per se).
